Description
“Emergence” is a large-scale art installation that invites reflection on the experience of closing down and opening up that we have grown accustomed to over the past two years. As USD students we are very excited to have worked over the summer with Art Builds, a USD-based artist collective, to develop our creative and engineering ideas into a detailed design and prototype of an installation which has been accepted by an arts festival. We’re now raising money so we can take our prototype to the next level! Your support will fund the fabrication and installation of the sculpture, with contributions helping us to purchase the all the materials needed to fabricate the sculpture and to rent the truck needed to bring it to the installation site. All this will give us a chance to put our ideas and engineering knowledge into practice. We’d love you to learn more about our project, make a gift, and spread the word to anyone who might be interested.

Your generosity will allow us to buy the material needed for the sculpture (lumber, hardware, lights) and rent a truck to haul the structure to and from San Diego.
Personal Message
Our sculpture asks participants to reflect on emergence from the past 18 months of confinement and discomfort we've collectively experienced. What will the world be like when we come out of this? Who will we be? Who do we want to be?
Why are donations necessary?
Your generosity helps us actually build and display our art at an art festival. We've already been accepted, and have been given free tickets ($275 each). Now all we need is money for supplies. We are so excited for the chance to see how our engineered computer design supports the realization of our vision via the creation of the physical sculpture, and to learn first hand about the difference between the engineering theory and practice!
