Each of the Torero Regional Clubs are trying to reach 10% alumni participation in order to win a scholarship for a student from their region. Scholarship need has increased dramatically in the past two years and this is our chance to help a student from Los Angeles. A gift of any amount counts towards alumni participation and puts the Los Angeles Club one step closer towards our 10% goal!
Areas of Greatest Need
A gift to any area of campus will count for participation, but USD's areas of greatest need right now are current use scholarships and scholarship support for underrepresented students.
Over 70% of students rely on scholarships to pursue their dreams of receiving a USD education – following in the footsteps of alumni like you. Your gift towards current use scholarships allows students to receive additional support immediately.
What is the Torero Regional Rally?
Torero Regional Rally is a USD Regional Alumni Chapter-based campaign to foster Torero pride, student scholarships, and alumni giving.
The goal is for each of the USD Regional Alumni Chapters to achieve a 10% participation rate for donations and gifts to USD. Each region that reaches the 10% alumni participation rate goal will earn a scholarship for a student from their region! Every gift counts! In terms of participation, a gift of $20 counts the same as a gift of $2,000.
*Only gifts from USD Undergraduate Alumni will count for alumni participation. Any gift made between July 1, 2021 - June 30, 2022 will count for this year's Regional Rally; if you've already given, thank you - you're already counted!
Why is alumni participation important?
Alumni participation is critical for a number of reasons:
- Giving provides an opportunity for alumni to express gratitude and say “thanks” for their USD experiences.
- Funds received from alumni donations are a crucial source of financial aid for students.
- Donating to USD helps our university maintain its standard of excellence by allowing it to attract and retain the best and brightest students, faculty, and staff, as well as build and maintain state-of-the-art campus facilities.
- Alumni donations factor into USD's national ranking.
