About NROTC

The purpose of the Navy ROTC Program is to educate and train qualified young men and women for service as commissioned officers in the Navy's unrestricted line, the Navy Nurse Corps and the Marine Corps. The Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps San Diego Consortium was established in the summer 1982. The Battalion has grown from an initial cadre of 28 to its current strength of over 230 students. This includes Midshipmen, active duty Marines participating in the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program (MECEP), and active duty sailors who have been selected for the Seaman to Admiral 21 (STA-21) Officer Candidate program.

Why Are Donations Necessary?

Donating to NROTC San Diego is a way to support all unit activities for the members of our program. Many unit items such as student leadership conferences, activities, club events, and purchasing unit merchandise are not funded through the department of defense. We see these components as pivotal elements in the development of future officers. Whether it be creating stronger, more competent leaders through leadership conferences, gaining camaraderie and togetherness through club events, or fostering a sense of pride through merchandise items, by donating to this cause, you are ensuring and supporting the growth and development of the future leaders in the United States Navy and Marine Corps.

What Your Donation Will Support

Associated events: Include Marine Corps Ball, Commissioning Ceremony, and Senior Dining In. These high volume events require months of planning, venue reservation, catering needs, and countless outside expenses. Each of these expenses come from our personal unit funds. Leadership conferences: The financial burden of attending leadership conferences, encompassing travel expenses and hotel accommodations, poses a significant challenge. Having to use student funds is not an effective or sustainable method of paying for the leadership conference given that many participants are full time students without steady income. Navigating these costs is crucial to ensure future individuals have the chance to benefit from this enriching experience and contribute to their development as future leaders within the military and the broader community. Student activities: Funding would allow for these activities to include food, initial investment for store bought items, and even sports equipment and recreational items. Merchandise: While these items may be bought by students, the initial investment to purchase items from a vendor tends to be outside the budget. Additionally, funds may at minimal impact, allow students to buy items for a more affordable price.
