Description
The USD Women's Water Polo club team used to be an important student sports club on campus. However, years ago the organization was eliminated from the campus recreation due to a lack of players. We have succeeded in recruiting new players over the last year and a half and bringing back Women's Water Polo to USD with the help of our coach and our team managers. This is our first year as an official USD club team and we will be playing in exhibition games in the CWPA (Collegiate Water Polo Association) league tournaments. We couldn't join the league this year unless we raised our team dues. We do not want to discourage interested and talented players who love to play water polo because they cannot afford the membership dues. We have worked really hard to bring this women's club sport back to USD and this fundraiser will help us to keep the team at USD. We do not require tryouts. We encourage anyone that wants to learn the sport to come to our practices and join our team. This year's Changefunding campaign will ensure that our club team will be available to all women that come to USD wanting to play water polo.
Donations are applied to...
We would like to raise $3000 in order to join the league next year to compete in the tournament games as an official league member, to purchase new caps, training equipment and to help pay our coach. As a team that is trying to publicize to high school and club water polo players that we do have a club team again at USD, we need to increase our exposure and playing time together as a team in the CWPA league. We are very grateful for the funding that we received from Associated Students at USD, but the balance of our budget has to come from fundraising efforts.

Why are donations necessary?
USD Women's Club Water Polo provides students the opportunity to continue to play the sport that they love at a competitive level, without the time commitment of an NCAA athlete. Practices are open to anyone who is interested in water polo, as we have first timers and athletes who have played for years. This is our second year as a club sports team at USD so we need the help of our family, friends, and community in order to grow and compete! Our goal is to provide a supportive community for USD students who are looking to find their niche, but we can't do that without your help!
