Who we are.
As the University of San Diego Women's Volleyball team we are a very competitive sport club. Our team is a part of the Southern California Collegiate League, which is a competitive league that plays teams regionally and nationally. We travel in and out of state for our tournaments each year, and concludes with our Nationals Tournament at the end of our season.
What are we fundraising for?
We really think this is our year to excel, and are already putting in a lot of hard work to prepare for nationals coming up this April in Kansas City, MO. Last year we placed 5th in the nation, and our main goal this year is to continue our success if not surpass the achievements we gained last year. The National Tournament is put on by the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation and would allow USD Club Volleyball to put our team on the map as one of the most competitive and strong teams in the nation. We do not want to have to raise dues for our players, as this could make the club inaccessible to people with real talent and a love of the game, hindering their desire to play. This platform for fundraising would allow us to gain funds for our travel in order to have the opportunities our team deserves. Proceeds would go towards purchasing plane tickets for the team and our coach, tournament entry fees, rental cars, hotel bookings, and other expenses associated with group travel and lodging for Kansas City and future tournaments.
Why are donations necessary?
As a Club Sports Team here on USD's campus, we essentially have to do all of our own fundraising. Because we register for multiple tournaments throughout the semester in and out of state, it is not uncommon for us to spend between $12,000-$15,000 per year. We collect a certain amount of money through yearly fundraising and payment of dues from our members, however, it is not uncommon that we barely skate by in regard to our budgeting upon completion of our spring season. Our club is not funded by Campus Recreation, so we have to make up the difference that our club dues do not meet.
